Brief Description of Research:
My research is on understanding causes of cancer recurrences (local or distant) after undergoing radiotherapy as part of a definitive treatment and seek novel treatments to prevent such recurrences.

Our group perform longitudinal analyses on patient outcomes as well as experiments using small animal models.  Specifically, for glioblastoma, we have established a multi-parametric response mapping (MPRM) method to longitudinal magnetic resonance imaging data for the prediction of survival1.  Imaging residual diseases near the end of a course of radiotherapy was also performed in a cohort of glioma patients2. In addition, we have established a micro-CT based irradiation platform for targeted irradiation of small animals3. For example, we have a series of publications on cranial irradiation of a murine brain metastasis model4. Irradiation of orthotopic glioma models have also been initiated. Together with Drs. Hebb and Schmid, we are studying intratumoural modulation therapy5 in a small animal model intended for use as an adjuvant therapy to prevent glioma recurrence after definitive treatment with temozolomide and radiotherapy.
